Dust Storm Debacle on Oleander Site
I remember that massive dust storm back in '04, right before I started my own business. We were working for a national chain then, and the whole Oleander area got buried. Fine, powdery grit clogged every vent and coated the interiors of those standard units, making them unusable. Construction crews were left without facilities for days, and the project manager was on the warpath about delays and crew welfare. It was a total mess that showed us exactly what not to do.
When we started Kern County Portable Restrooms, that experience was our blueprint. For our standard construction rentals now, we use units with better-sealed vents and schedule extra service checks during our infamous windy seasons. We'll proactively call a site foreman if we see a bad forecast coming for Bakersfield. For a recent Riviera-Westchester project, we had a crew out cleaning units within two hours after a haboob passed, keeping the build on schedule. The super told us we saved his guys a lot of grief.
You guys had our site cleaned up and running before we even finished sweeping the dust off the slabs.
Mike, Site Superintendent
